I am a huge advocate of supporting local businesses, and this week, I wanted to showcase 1836 Texas Kitchen. Their style of food is “Texas-inspired dishes… from different regions of the Lone Star State. Why? Because it is the best!” My husband and I frequently dine at this local restaurant for many reasons.
Support Our Community
They have fed East Texans with the Highway 80 Mission. They have raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness. Hosted Trunk or Treat at the restaurant. Raised money for CASA of Kids of East Texas with a Station Car and Bike Show. Some of their beverages at the bar are from local breweries. And the list goes on and on. They pour back into our community COUNTLESS times. The owner also lives in our community, and wants to continue to create something amazing for our community to look forward to!
Atmosphere
This restaurant has multiple places to dine in the restaurant inside and outside. We also appreciate how we can go to the restaurant in our church attire, and also our activewear. I also enjoy the overall décor and style choices of the restaurant (industrial, with accents of wood, and Texas of course). They are also family-friendly.
Service
The service at this restaurant is wonderful! The staff is attentive and makes sure that your needs are accommodated.
Favorite Dishes
Everything is really wonderful on the menu, so I will limit our favorites to items we order most frequently.
Appetizers: Crawfish Queso, Chicken Rolls
Soups/Salads: Costa Chopped Salad, Chicken Sausage Gumbo
Burger: Cut Beef Burger
From the Ocean: NOLA BBQ Shrimp, Chilean Sea Bass (Special!), Shrimp and Grits
Brunch: Steak and Eggs, Chicken and Waffles, and anytime 1836 has a special for brunch, my husband usually tries it.
Desserts: The Bread Pudding, Chocolate Cake
What We STILL Want to Try: The Barbacoa Tacos. These are separate from the menu, and I have seen on Social Media that they are served on Tuesdays, and sometimes on the weekends. But they look phenomenal.
So when you and your family are thinking about what to have to brunch, lunch, or dinner, I recommend that you try 1836 Texas Kitchen!
