We just finished our listing appointment, and have already determined a plan for the best way to show your home.

Then I ask, “What is the best way to enter your home?”

Some homeowners give me the following:

  • Key for the door(s) they want people to enter.
  • Code for the door(s) they want people to enter.
  • Garage door code and a key to enter through the garage.

Then I present to you the option of having a Supra Lockbox on your door. You think back, and you remember a black or blue door hanging box that you had to have access to. And you start to think, what are the positives and negatives about this door hanging box. What can it actually do?

Provide Secure Access

The only people who can have access to the Suprabox are members of the Greater Tyler Association of REALTORS® (GTAR) members who pay to have access and schedule an appointment. This includes GTAR: REALTORS®, inspectors, appraisers, etc.

Notification

This lockbox will notify me of WHO opens the box, and WHEN they opened the box.

Feedback

The lockbox program will automatically send out a feedback request to the agent showing the house. Agents at this point can fill out the feedback questions. Agents are not required to submit feedback. But, when they do, this can sometimes provide valuable information about the showing. Sometimes feedback is positive, or negative. Either way, we can learn from it.

Data

The box collects the following data: who entered the property, how many times did it show, who has submitted feedback.

Key/Code Inside

Once the individual opens the lockbox, the key/code will be inside.

This is a great tool to use! However, there are somethings we may need to make adjustments to:

Door Knobs

Sometimes the doorknob that you have on your desired entry may not work for the lockbox. The lockbox could slide off. Therefore, I would have to find another way to hang the lockbox. Some places I have installed lockboxes: railings, exterior water shut off valve, different exterior door, gates, etc.

Cellphone Reception

Don’t you love technology? Depending upon where your home is located, the cellphone service for the individuals wanting to enter your home might not be the strongest. There is still a possibility of opening the lockbox, but it sometimes takes time.

Depending on where your home is located, the Supra lockbox may or may not be the best for you. I just wanted you to know that there is more to the blue box on your door than you may have thought!
