Sometimes when people think “Vote”, their mind automatically goes towards The White House. You see the people running as people you know distantly. They seem like they are out of reach, distant, or don’t know what you are going through locally. However, with local elections, depending on where you live, you may know the people running in the election. They may be your neighbors, attend the same church as you, or you may be in the same line at the grocery store!

Reasons to Vote Locally

  1. It’s a privilege that many people in the world do not have. Not voting means giving up your voice.
  2. Local government can affect almost every aspect of your daily life.
  3. You work hard for your money!
  4. Voting is an opportunity to change.
  5. Our community depends on you.

I highly encourage you to research the candidates. Especially because this a local election, if you have questions, you can most likely get answers to your questions directly! Even if you just moved to the area that has local elections, your voice is still important! Of course, you will need to register to vote. Either way, you need to make the best decision for you and our community. Although I was not raised here, I am so thankful I live in Tyler, Texas and I call East Texas my home.

Early Voting runs from February 18th through February 28th. For more information about Smith County Voting Locations, click here.

Kelly Raulston

“Reliable and Ready” REALTOR® since 2016. I was born in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, but was raised in Texas since 1997. When I found out we were moving to Plano, Texas, I remember looking forward to riding a horse to school and a brand-new pair of cowboy boots! Growing up in Plano prepared me to be competitive, quick, and to have a strong work ethic. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Axe’em Jacks! That is where my love for East Texas began. The nature, warm smiles, football games, and community values can't be beat! I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was a middle school math teacher in Tyler, Texas. I met my husband, Travis, in Sunday school, and we have been married since September 2016. I love being a REALTOR® in East Texas! Relationships are genuine, the area is beautiful, and the market is rockin’! I am an involved REALTOR® to better the community. Some of the organizations I am involved with are: The Professional Development Committee, Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, and Tyler Educational Networking Group. Some awards I have won were “The Hustle Award” in 2016, and “Rookie of the Year” in 2017. When I am not working with my clients, I like to spend quality time with my friends and family doing the following: running, target practice, read and participate in book club, and playing with my dachshund Greta.
