2020 has brought so many unexpected unplanned events. Who knows, we could have a blizzard next week (LOL)!! Even though East Texas weather can feel like all four seasons in ONE DAY, as the weather is starting to get "cooler", it is important to consider the following.

  1. Test smoke alarms and carbon dioxide detectors.
  2. Clean out gutters. Depending on your home height and steepness of the roof, you may consider having a professional do the job.
  3. Reverse ceiling fans. This is to reduce your energy usage, and save you money! When your heater is running, the reversed ceiling fan will push the warmer air from the ceiling to the floor.
  4. Trim tree branches away from roof. Not only is this to prevent branches from falling on your roof, but this also can help critters from accessing roof and attic.
  5. Have your Heating and Air Conditioning unit checked by a professional, and make necessary repairs.
  6. Have your chimney checked and cleaned out by a professional.
  7. Paint, caulk and seal exterior wood, doors, and windows. Check for air leaks in windows. The time you spend to do this now, will save you money in the future.
  8. Have your sprinkler system and yard drainage checked by a professional.
  9. Restock on winter weather essentials (salt, sand, and some even use kitty litter...).

The more you can do to prepare for the cooler/colder months, the better!

“Reliable and Ready” REALTOR® since 2016. I was born in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, but was raised in Texas since 1997. When I found out we were moving to Plano, Texas, I remember looking forward to riding a horse to school and a brand-new pair of cowboy boots! Growing up in Plano prepared me to be competitive, quick, and to have a strong work ethic. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Axe’em Jacks! That is where my love for East Texas began. The nature, warm smiles, football games, and community values can't be beat! I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was a middle school math teacher in Tyler, Texas. I met my husband, Travis, in Sunday school, and we have been married since September 2016. I love being a REALTOR® in East Texas! Relationships are genuine, the area is beautiful, and the market is rockin’! I am an involved REALTOR® to better the community. Some of the organizations I am involved with are: The Professional Development Committee, Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, and Tyler Educational Networking Group. Some awards I have won were “The Hustle Award” in 2016, and “Rookie of the Year” in 2017.
